Contracting an external facilitator/trainer offers organisations,
workplace teams, inter-agency teams and projects a consultative
and safe place to discuss the planning and progress of their
work, to voice their views and concerns and to develop learning.
This results in the identification of the best approach needed
to meet the needs of an organisation and its progress.
Teams can identify their aims and objectives and the strategies
that they need to employ to achieve their goals. This leads
to the development of a realistic and achievable workplan
through consultation. Through facilitation and training, they
can also explore issues external and internal to their organisation
and the means to overcome the challenges facing them.
The development of policies and procedures for organisations
is best done through a facilitated process in order for the
workforce to develop an appropriate means to address any issues
that may arise in their organisation. If consultation is offered
at this level, then the personnel who will use these policies
and procedures will have developed ownership over the process
and will be more likely to buy into their implementation.
Training in competencies, skills and knowledge will enable
management and employees to handle their work and their communication
methods with each other more effectively, thus reducing the
risk of conflict, poor team dynamics and reduced output.
Facilitation can also be used if there are problems within
the team dynamics and the motivation of the team participants
that is resulting in poor work performance and the reduction
of outputs.
